Council boss fighting proposals
Council leader Derek Vaughan has said he still hopes to limit any negative impact the TAN 8 document may have on Neath Port Talbot.
In February 2005 a team of consultants was appointed by the council for this purpose.
This week Coun Vaughan told the Guardian that when the consultants report back to the council, he hopes to be able to limit the document's scope for the proliferation of wind farm projects in Neath Port Talbot.
He said: "I remain opposed to the TAN 8 proposals, which could potentially mean huge numbers of wind farms in Neath Port Talbot."
"The consultants were appointed to look at the TAN 8 proposals and make suggestions on how we could reduce the impact on the county borough. The consultants are still carrying out their work and have not yet produced their final report for us."
"When they do we hope we can use it to reduce the boundaries of the Strategic Search Areas proposed in TAN 8."
