Biking event promises to be the most successful to date
Hundreds of competitors will be hoping to get into top gear at Afan Forest Park this weekend.
They will gather at the Glyncorrwg Visitor Centre for the Xterra Enduro bike rides (100km and 50km) on Saturday.
After the event, there will be a party with a live band - with weekend camping available at various locations across Glyncorrwg.
The event will act as a precursor to the prestigious Xterra triathlon.
Branded one of the UK's toughest, it will be held on Sunday and Monday, September 16 and 17, as part of a longer weekend of activities.
Last year - the first time the event had been held in the area - it attracted 700 competitors, an estimated 1,000 spectators and television cameras, with some of the action televised live by Sky and Channel 4.
It was hailed a huge success by local businesses, with most accomodation in the area fully booked.
This year's triathlon will be based at Resolven Rugby Club.
The punishing main event consisted of a 1,500m swim, 30km mountain bike trail, and 10km run.
Neath Port Talbot Council leader Derek Vaughan said: "I'm delighted this world-class event is being held here once again, following on from last year's success."
